Welcome to my website and thank you for your interest in my practice.
My first job as a therapist was in a psychiatric hospital, where I worked with individuals and families dealing with severe mental illness. I was amazed at that time, and 25+ years later continue to be amazed, at how resilient we human beings are. Regardless of our circumstances, as children we develop emotional and behavioral coping strategies that allow us to survive in our worlds. Problems arise when, as we mature, these strategies are no longer necessary or relevant, and have in fact, become barriers to our becoming our best Selves. I believe that the first step in making changes in our lives is allowing ourselves to recognize these barriers and to mindfully explore options for letting go of the barriers.
I continue to be fascinated when I see how closely the mind, the body, and the spirit work together to move us forward as functioning human beings. Symptoms of dysfunction manifest in the mind, the body and the spirit as well, and recognizing these symptoms can be difficult. If you are struggling with depression or anxiety, your relationship with food and body, relationship with partner, spouse or friends, or with the complexities of growing older, working from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective, I can help you to identify and understand your particular symptoms and to explore your options for change.
